"For I the LORD do not change; therefore ye, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed." (Malachi 3:6)
Times pass, peoples and nations rise up, prosper in righteousness and fall into sin again, but the Lord our God does not change! Epochs develop, generations pass, science changes, philosophies and thoughts come in claiming to be futuristic and then disappear again, but the Lord remains unchanged, and his Word and his Purposes are established in Heaven forever! This is our life brother, do you think that something went wrong in your life, that things got out of control? Well beloved, it's you and I, it's all of us who have changed, not the Lord! Do you think there was a happy time in your life, and then everything got tremendously more difficult? Well then, precious child of the Father, it's you and I, and it's all of us who have changed! Remember that time when you were full of Glory, jumped in the anointing burning in flames, and felt a great revival even in the world, and now it seems that everything has emptied out and the power is gone? Well, dear heir of God, it's you and I, and it's all of us who have changed again, and the God of the anointing and power of the Spirit remains exactly the One who inflamed and consumed your soul in fire! What happens then, servant of the Light? What happens is that we separate ourselves from the Simplicity and Purity of the Gospel, and we invent a multitude of clichés, pseudo-sanctifying rules, fickle standards of self-righteousness, idolizing perfect models of self-sufficient and unattainable supermens in holiness, venerated in manner of demigods. Because we started to worship the I-am-myself and threw the Only-He-Is behind our backs! Because we begin to cultivate a great planting of green trees within the garden of our ego, the I-am-the-world-breaking, I-have-the-power and seeking only our own personal advancement, aiming for our own glory, stroking each other's glory, and casting aside the only true glory that comes from the One God! Because it hurts us a lot in our photoluminescence to hear the word of the Lord, which says: "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit; FOR WITHOUT ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING." (John 15:5). Because the Lord is no longer on the throne of our life, but our own desires, dreams and ambitions! Because I go to church, but if so-and-so doesn't greet me or glare at me, I don't go to services anymore! If some person have the opportunity, and I don't, I'll abandon the ministry! And if the pastor cross-eyed me during the message, I don't tithe anymore! Because? Because we start to cultivate the I-am, and we forget that Only, and Only He Is! He is our Savior, in whom we have the restoration of life and the forgiveness of our miserable sins. He is our Lord, in whom we are delivered and saved from the hands of the Enemy. He is our Guide and Teacher, in whom we have the way to true life and light. He is our God, the only one worthy of all our obedience, of all the honor and glory in our lives and in that of all our brothers and sisters. Remember this, He is the Center of Everything and the Supreme Shepherd who shows us the right path ahead of us. "For you were like sheep that have gone astray; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls." (1 Peter 2:25). And oddly enough, we need to hear this verse from Peter again. Carve this into your mind: He is the Only Worthy, the Only Righteous, the Only Holy, and above all, the Only One Powerful among us! Remember this my brother, it's not the Lord, it's not His Power, it's not His Word, it's not His Presence, it's you and I, and it's all of us who change, stubborn and deviate from following in the footsteps and His commandments, when He never ceased to be Faithful, to be Just, and to Remain Immutable in all His Promises that He once made and continues to make to me and you, and to all of us.
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)
